John Mayer

I am a lucky girl. Not only was I invited by my friend Sarah to see John Mayer but we got the most ridiculous seats. Row 18 on the floor. Dead centre.

John Mayer is an amazing performer. Not only can he kill it on the guitar but he can sing and his banter with the audience is part of the experience. And he isn`t hard to look at either so watching him for two hours is really not a bad thing!

Some highlights for me were Slow Dancing in a Burning Room, his cover of Don`t Stop Believing, Who Says and Vultures.

Set List:

Heartbreak Warfare
Good Love is On the Way
Vultures
Perfectly Lonely
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
Assassin
Waiting on the World to Change
(New Song)
All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye
No Such Thing
Neon
Ain’t No Sunshine
Why Georgia
Half of My Heart > Don’t Stop Believing

Encore:

Who Says
Gravity

I loved how the audience brought John back for the encore. Rather than just screaming and clapping, we sung him back to the stage. Very cool! Overall, a great night out with a great friend listening to an amazing musician and singer.

Night of Sledge Hockey

Last night I went to the USA vs Norway sledge hockey game. I was a little upset that Canada played at noon since I assumed Canada would be playing the later game if (or should I say  when) they made the semi finals. But I knew that regardless of who was playing, it was going to be a fun night out watching this amazing sport.

With Sumi prior to the game at Thunderbird Arena.

What a great night! It has to be said, that I think it was the most fun I have ever had at a hockey game. The vibe in the arena was amazing. Lots of fans from both USA and Norway but also a lot of Canadian fans,  once again wearing their Olympic uniforms of Canada gear! The music that they pumped out had everyone clapping and singing a lot. Someone even got a good wave going!!

Byron and Adrian cheering for Norway!

Although USA won the game 3-0, it was a great game to watch. These athletes are so inspirational. They were dealt a raw deal in their lives and instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they still pursued their dreams! And we got a chance to witness them living that dream! It truly was a fantastic thing to see.

The Norwegian team thanks the Referees after the game.

Once again, another great Olympic experience spent with good friends.

Under the Tuscan Sun

I have always wanted to go to Italy so imagine my excitement when my good friend said she was getting married there this summer. A perfect excuse to finally take the trip I have been dying to take for years and years.

The Plan:

We are going to fly into London and stay two nights there. It will give us a chance to hang out with Jen (the bride) for a bit before heading to Rome. We are going to spend 3 nights in Rome and while there I can check off one of my bucket list items. See the Colosseum.

Next on the list: Siena. Probably just spend an afternoon there before heading East to Cortona. If any of you have seen the movie Under the Tuscan Sun, you will know Cortona as it is where the movie was filmed. I fell in love with this small Tuscan village when I saw the movie so kind of excited to see it in person! We are going to spend the night here.

Cortona

Next stop: Greve in Chianti where the wedding is. We will be in Greve for 3 nights. The Tuscan villa is where Mona Lisa, the daughter of Anton Maria Gherardini was born in 1479. Yes, THAT, Mona Lisa.

The setting for Jen’s wedding couldn’t be any better. I am so excited for her and George!

Vignamaggio Villa (where the wedding is & where we are staying)

After the wedding it is off to Florence, the capital of the Tuscan region, for two nights and after exploring all the city has to offer, a definite stop at the designer outlets malls close by!

Florence

We will drive through Pisa before heading to Vernazza. Pisa is the home of another  bucket list item. The Leaning Tower of Pisa.

I am really stoked about going to Vernazza which is one of the five villages in Cinque Terra (along the Italian Riviera). We are only spending one night there but the plan is to do a lot of hiking. Apparently there is a trail that goes from village to village.

Vernazza

Our last stop on this vacation will be Venice. Bucket list item # 3 on this trip. Take a gondola ride in Venice.

Venice

There are going to be so many “pinch me” moments on this trip. Can you tell I am excited. The countdown begins. 17 weeks to go!
