Ok so this post is WAY late. I forgot I hadn’t posted it. My bad. So finally here is my take on Library Voices.

Every now and again I am introduced to a band that I just can’t seem to get enough of. Library Voices is that band for me right now. And they just happened to be Canadian so yah I love them even more because of it.

Their album Summer of Lust is so much fun to listen to. It brings a smile to my face every time I listen to it especially stand out tracks like “Prime Ministers Daughter”, “If Raymond Carver were born in the 90’s” and “Reluctant Readers make Reluctant Lovers”.

I had the pleasure of seeing them live for the first time in May and considering I was already sold on them, I walked away even more smitten.

They are one hell of a dancing good time. I dare you to not get up and groove to this band if you ever see them live. They give it their all. I literally left the Commodore Ballroom in such a great space and strutted down the street. Now that is a great live show!

So this post is late but better late than never!

My friend Sue and I had been talking about seeing a Steel Panther show since we found out about them a couple years ago but we kept missing them when they came up to Vancouver. We finally got our schedules together and got tickets to their show March 10th.

We knew it was going to be ridiculous because well, have your heard their lyrics?? And they did not disappoint! They were ridiculously awesome!!!

Sue and I got right up front. Not sure if that was a good idea or a bad one but as soon as they came on, I got a beer dumped all over me.

Besides the masses in the crowd who took them SOOO serious we had a great time! I am not sure that some of the crowd knew they are a faux band. That it is kind of a joke on the glam rock band era of the 80’s. But I give people props for dressing up and making a night out of it!

Here are the pictures… you be the judge. Serious? Or not? But regardless how can you not seriously love them!

And for those of you not familiar with their lyrics, they are crude and rude. But they put on a good show. I mean check the video out, even the security guard was singing along!

And White Snake’s classic “Here I go Again”.

We came. We saw. We bought the t-shirt.

When my good friend Jason asked me if I wanted to go to the Danko Jones show, I have to admit that I really didn’t know any of their music. Of course, I had heard of them but just hadn’t actually listened to any of their tunes.

Jason warned me that it was going to be a loud show so suggested I bring some ear plugs to protect my ears which i was grateful for. They were loud!! But they were awesome. They played a full on energetic set. And I loved every minute of it!

Here are some pictures I took at the show. I had just picked up this camera the day before. A Canon SD4500IS.

After the show, we were lucky enough to go backstage and chat with the band. Really great guys and down to earth.

I also got a chance to meet George Stroumboulopoulos which was kind of cool. He is a good looking guy…. not going to lie! 😉

I love nights when there are no expectations and end up being just so much fun! Last night was definitely one of those nights. Great times!

Now excuse me while I go download some Danko Jones.
