I don’t normally do New Years Resolutions. I don’t find them that useful but this year I am going to because I need to make a new commitment to myself.

I have been a very fit person most of my life. My weight has fluctuated some but mostly I have been a fit and healthy person. And it may be a surprise to some because yes, I did just run a marathon but I am overweight for my height. I need to lose weight to be healthy again and I need to lose weight to be happy and comfortable in my own skin again.

So I am going to be one of those people who make a commitment to getting fit and healthy in the new year. But more importantly, I am going to remain so. This isn’t just going to be a 6 week thing and then I will forget about it. This is going to be a new lifestyle for me and I really am looking forward to the challenge.

20 lbs to go.

I have just over 7 weeks to go on this strict Body for Life program. Which means I am pretty much half way.

So how am I feeling? I am feeling great. I am feeling so much stronger. The three times a week weights program has really helped me in my training for Seek the Peak. And I am definitely seeing a difference in my body. Inches have been lost all over! And I am starting to see my muscles come back… and maybe a hint of a 4 pack but that might just be wishful thinking!

The scale really hasn’t moved a lot which has gotten me a little down. But knowing that muscle weighs more than fat and knowing that I have lost inches, I have decided that I am not going to step on the scale again until the end of the program when I do my body fat percentage. That will show me the real results.

I am struggling with food a bit. Not that I want to eat bad food but more that I tend to eat the same thing over and over again and am just getting bored with it. My mission this long weekend is to find some decent recipes that I can switch up my meal routine with.

I am really proud of myself for making it this far. I know the next 7 weeks will be a breeze!

It is no shock to a lot of my friends that I have been down in the dumps lately. Just feeling depressed and tired. I had an awful weekend of feeling sorry for myself and eating crap. I  know I needed to make a change and for me that change starts with what I eat and how much I move. So it is back to the Body for Life program. When I am on a strict Body for Life program, I feel so much better about myself. Better about what I am fueling my body with which gives me more energy. And because I am working out a lot, I feel strong and confident!

For the next 13 weeks, Body for Life is going to be my life. For the next 13 weeks it is going to be all about me!!!

The workout plan:

Mondays:

Morning – weights (upper body)

Evening – kickboxing

Tuesdays:

Run – 40 min

Wednesdays:

Morning – weights (lower body)

Evening – kickboxing

Thursdays:

Morning – 40min run

Fridays:

Morning – weighs (upper body)

Evening – kickboxing

Saturdays:

Morning – 60 min (or more) run

Sundays:

Off

The Meal Plan:

6:30am Breakfast

9:30am Snack

12:00pm Lunch

2:30pm Snack

5:30pm Dinner

8:00pm Snack

I could go into detail about the food program but it is basically about combining the right amount of protein with the right amount of healthy carbs. You can find out more about the program at www.bodyforlife.com

Although it means some early mornings and a lot of meal preparation, I am so pumped about doing this again. And hopefully after the 13 weeks (and after I get back from Italy because lets face it, I am going to be eating more then my fair share of carbs over there) this won’t be just something I did for 13 weeks but it will become a way of life for me. Again.
